Hello, I've played version 6 for a bit but have run into some situations where I am stumped and couldn't find an answer on the wiki.

1. using advanced weapons:
I've use improvised turrets and regular mortars before but I have never seen anything aside from the normal mortar shells.  how do I get/build the incendiary rounds, also how do I use missiles, I don't see a research option to build some kind of missile launcher.

2. Ship parts:
Does building ship parts actually provide a benefit to your colony or is it simply a condition to win the game.  I managed to win against mechanoid crashed ship just once (surrounded it with turrets) and by the time I beat them all but 2 of my colonists were either dead or insane and the last two didn't have the necessary skills to keep them selves alive and eventually died so I did not have the opportunity to use the.

3. psychic drone:
this thing is super annoying, whenever it appears I always lose at least one colonist who goes nuts.  I work to keep people happy with lots of food and decorations and stuff but it's never enough.  And if anything even slightly stressful like an enemy attack or I run short on food then everything just spirals down.  how do you deal with it?

4. Colonists sometimes not eating:
Occasionally colonists will just not eat, I will turn off all their other priorities so they don't have anything else to do but then they will just stand there, next to the pantry stuffed full of food and starve to death.  This once happened to my entire colony where no one would eat at all.  is this a bug or is there some kind of condition that was not being met?

1) Missiles are unused in the current alpha, so no Missile launchers for us... yet.
2) Ship parts are just a win condition at the moment
3) Psychic drone usually emanates from an ancient ship part, so you can go destroy that and it should stop. Although in the case you have a psychic drone without the ship part, Roses help Alot
4) I've had a similar issue, although I was modded so I assumed that it was a bug in the mod. So I suppose this is a bug and should be reported.

If you've got any more questions or problems feel free to ask. Welcome to the Ludeon community! :)

Yes, if you have a 5x6 patch of roses nearby and draft a colonist for the center of it once he starts to show up in warnings, you will rarely run into any problems. Even if you just had them hauling dozens of corpses. ^^

I suggest building the roses next to your crop fields, so that they can chat with the farmers for a better boost. Alternatively, build a mortar or a research bench and surround it with flowers. The colonists near them will get a nice boost while doing something useful.

If the colonists aren't eating check and see if the food isn't blocked or if there are no items blocking the pantry. There is also the case that the prison are leaked and reached the kitchen, making it impossible for colonists to cook or eat the stored food.
This problem should be easy to see since you can see the prison area by clicking on a prisoner bed.

The ship reactor does have one fringe benefit: It's the only form of sourceless power in the game. It only puts out 1000W, which is even less than solar generators (1700W at maximum sunlight levels). If you're a battery-phobe, though, it has limited utility after you've made use of all the geothermal geysers.

I believe some mods have other uses for the ship AI part as well.

1) You can build (regular) Mortar, Incendiary Mortar, and EMP Mortar.  I think the Incendiary & EMP's have to be researched first, and they're available to research right away.

3) Base design can do a lot against psychic drone (assuming non-crashed ship).  Big rooms, avoiding cabin fever (don't wall/door your killbox completely), roses, nice floors, Royal Beds, etc.  If it is a crashed ship part, you just have to deal with the crashed ship.  One way is to build a wall entirely around it, then deconstruct it.  The falling roof will crush the crashed part, and you don't get any mechs, but you also don't get the AI core.

I love that. The thought of it being able to survive crash landing near your colony, but being unable to survive a thin metal sheet landing on it... :D

I've never even thought of doing that in the past either. I will definitely explore doing this in the future though.

I can't take credit for the idea - read it from someone else here.  Tynan might prevent that from working in the future though.

Yeah, he's a spoilsport like that :D

Somthing like:
QuoteThe crashed ship has been buried, awakening all inhabitants. Hundreds of Mechanoids have begun digging their way out of the rubble.

Coenmcj

Well, everyone used to bunker down and Cabin fever happened, so when we go to crush the ship part, some sort of very bad thing will happen.

And then I was about to post and the forum alerted me that Jaxxa had posted... Oh dear god...

That might have been a little extreme, maybe something like:

QuoteAs the last of roof falls in and crushes the ship you detect a transition beamed into space. What could it be? a plea for help? a warning to stay away? Maybe you will never know, or maybe you are about to find out very soon...

"It's raining Mechs. Hallelujah, it's raining Mechs..."

Or like:
"The crashed ship has been buried, awakening all inhabitants. They send help messages. You detect 5 more mech ship parts have landed on the planet."
"The only time you have too much fuel on board is when you are on fire."
