Why won't this cooler work?

maybe the room is to big so you need 2? that was my issue and fix.

1. There's a steam generator right next door, which is very hot and increases the temperature in the room you are trying to cool with the cooler.
2. There's a door between the "cool" room and the room with the exhaustwent, which means the heat the cooler get out of the room gets partially back in through the door.
3. A large room is REALLY hard to keep cool. The larger the room the harder temperature control is.

A few tipps for placing coolers:
- No "hot" rooms next to the cool room, like a room with a steam generator, exspecially not connected with a door.
- The exhaust vent should always lead outside, i think the cooler stops working right if the side of the exhaust vent is too hot.
- Muliple coolers for large rooms.

You can solve it easier (and using less power) by doing this:

1. Put a single no roof tile in the area where the thermal generator is contained.  It should equalize the temperature of the room with the outside.

2. Make a little hallway with another door attached to your access door as an air lock.  This is far less important than step one.

If you do step one only, you should only need one cooler for the room and save a lot of power.

Ive come across this issue before.
The issue you are havng or had is most likely the door you had in the first picture.
Ive noticed that doors basically leak in rimworld. The temperature in 1 room will affect adjacent rooms if connected by a door. The effect is small and not really noticable with rooms requireing normal biome temperature. But a cooler room can as an example make the adjacent grow room just cold enough that the plants wont grow. This can usually be remidied by having a small hallway between the rooms or adding a regulating heater/cooler to the 2nd room that offsets the bleed in temperature between rooms.

Or as youve done in your 2nd picture which is to add more coolers. Tough that can make the adjacent to hot again.

For bases inside mountains creating ventilation shafts connected to the outside can also work as no amount of coolers/heaters can change the outdoor temperature.  Basically a network of 1 tile tunnels close enough to rooms to allow a cooler to fill the gap between rooms and what is considered "outside world temperature". They also make for quick emergency escape routes as the AI wont attack them and use them as doors but they can easily be deconstructed and allow for an exit.
