Fire: Too much

If fire could be made less laggy then it could be made realistic.  Like for example ravaging the entire map instead of being auto extinguished by rain, but on the flip side an all steel longsword would not burn to ash in a matter of minutes.

Just to say... if fire get to spread more and more we will really suffer from loosing the ability to plant tree.

This was a fun screenshot from several alphas back, what a full map fire might look like. Some mod caused plants to grow out of control so I had to do a full map burn. I used god mode to create lightning strikes and continually stopped the rain every time it tried to start. It's a bit artificial at some points, but you can see how the fire already cleared a large area. Was forming fire walls of death, killing most animals and you can see the colonist Turkey is surrounded and screwed. It didn't destroy all plant life, even a fire this out of control missed at least a few of every plant species, which were able to reseed the entire map. I had a stone wall with a 2-wide paved path around my entire based, it was protection enough; yet colonists were still needed for repairs and to control fires jumping the walls. It's a cool experiment, but super laggy at its peak. Make sure you create a new save before trying it.

As far as I can tell each square of fire has a glow effect, smoke effect, and animation. Makes it look pretty, but causes that terrible lag.
I'd like for it to be rarer, but way more disastrous. Rain always putting takes away the threat altogether.

Nope.  We will build concrete (or stone tile if you want to be more classy) fire perimeters isolating our specific crops.

I would actually be okay with fire being more difficult. A ton of work goes into making sure buildings IRL don't burst into flames. While I don't agree with the real-is-better argument, I think making meaningful decisions about laying out bases and putting in fire blocks is fun.

I'm talking of TREE, you can't plant those anymore. and I doubt you consider parceling the entire map with a concrete grind an actual solution.
Plus, even to protect your crop this sound like a solution too constraining to be interesting. Only worth it if you somehow don't need the stone or metal for something else.

So don't go "nope" so fast.

You did say plant so excuse me for not catching the distinction, and yes I agree parceling the entire map with concrete would be far too laborious.

I'm pretty sure plant was the verb in that sentence.
