Can only grow potatoes?

I'm pretty far into my second Rimworld game, and I've only ever been allowed to grow potatoes.
I found the area where you select what you're growing, but Potatoes are my only option?

Am I doing something wrong? I could really use some cotton right about now.

It's a  forest Biome if that makes a difference?

Sounds like something is wrong.  You should be able to grow anything on soil.  Biomes don't prevent you from growing different crops.

Are there requirements to grow something? Like acquiring the seeds?
Built a hydroponics basin as well. Potatoes only again.

So...
You plop down your growing area.
You click on the growing area.
The text pops up saying that it's "Growing Area X," and there's no Bill/Crop button (or something above it - I can't remember the button's name) to allow you to change to another crop?

Edit: Since you last logged in 45mins after my post, I'm assuming that this solved your issue. If not, you should probably post again.

is the sledgehammer compatible with the romance mod?
Only in Rimworld.

Sorry, I should have replied earlier. Turns out I'm just a nub. I expected buttons to appear in the screen for each plant.
Then I clicked "potato" and got the submenu with all of the other plants :)
