Why does furniture etc. have a market value?

This just makes me wanna sell it. But if you can, how? I'm DYING to know.
Rimworld: A game where you're kept as entertainment for thousand year old robots, and you just don't know it yet.

It basically adds Bling Factor to your colony's measure of how fat a target it is for raiders and mechanoids.

your colonists also have a market value. Everything on the rim has a market value.

only if you arrest them first, and make the prisoners. ie non colonists. No direct way to sell a colonist. 

But I get what you are saying... a trade depot full of furniture to sell to a trader.

Wouldn't that just be awesome? Maybe furniture should work more like art. Installing it after crafting it at a table.
