I have 3 strategies:

1: Snipe them
2: Wait behind a corner or sufficiently large obstruction, and have my brawlers cut him open.
3: Build a sacrificial turret.

1 & 2 are obviously better, because then you score your very own triple launcher. Those things are great anti-mechanoid weapons, just remember to give the launcher man a weapon afterwards

strangely, in my games, those triple-rocket-guys usually end up blowing up their very vanguard.

Just like to re-point out that number 2 isn't sure fire. Triple rockets can go over/through walls.

Just like to point out, this is actually a glitch which should (BETTER) be fixed next update. This isn't just rockets, bullets, arrows, even molotovs can go through walls.

The issue is, the "misses" fly out in a randomized radius around the target, but it was never programmed to have the shots necessarily be blocked by walls once fired, thus, if the shot misses, goes to the right, and has the randomized destination of a few blocks behind a stone wall, it flies right through the wall and hits its new "miss"  target.

This is particularly noticeable with Molotovs, get a crappy shot and toss them at a wall, you will notice a few go into it.
Why to people worry about following their heart? Its lodged in your chest, you won't accidentally leave it behind.

Its bad because reasons, and if you don't know the reasons, you are horrible. You cannot ask what the reasons are or else you doubt it. But the reasons are irrefutable. Logic.

Just to clarify: my problem is with rocket launchers during sieges, when the pirates are just hanging out while lobbing artillery at me.  When they come to attack my base I have no trouble at all.  They blow up my turrets while I shoot them.  I don't mind replacing turrets.

The trouble with sniping is that rocket range is very close to sniper range.  So when the guys with the rockets wander outside of my sniper range my snipers start shooting other targets, and I don't notice when they wander back in until *boom* my snipers are dead.

I suppose I could raise an army of terriers... but damn, I'd have to have 100 of them inhaling my crops to breed enough fresh replacements every month.

If you give an annoying colonist a parka before banishing him to the ice sheet you'll only get a -3 penalty instead of -5.

And don't forget that the pirates chasing a refugee are often better recruits than the refugee is.

If the enemy is firing at you, you weren't behind a sufficiently large obstruction. You not hiding to avoid the rocket, your hiding because you don't want the pawn to see you and fire to begin with.

Uh huh when they move towards you dude, they are going to come in range. If they start aiming up up and you run back behind cover, the shot they fire will basically track you. On the other side of a doubled reinforced wall? They go over the top. Also, the down time after a sniper shot is more then enough for a triple carrying pawn to move into target range.

Also the obstruction I was on the other side of most recently was a double width, uninterrupted wall. They were 100% unable to see me. But because they can track targets, if they start firing while they can see you, they will continue even when they can't.

Livingston I Presume

I have an eight man sniper team for such targets of opportunity.  They clean them up real nice

I generally have a 3/4 man team, who get the lions share of bionic > specifically eyes and leg. I then just game the hell outa it with ranges and pick them off. I find it the long cool down time for the snipers that kill them. I don't why it would take them so long to move AFTER shooting.

A sniper team with augmented arms/legs and eyes = kills every siege. Though of course, you may see a lot of devastating sieges until you have a squad like that.

I lost my super sniper with 20 shooting and full augments because of I was too lazy to give him a new kidney. When some infection hit him, he died because of that infection because of, even with proper in-time treatment, the time was not enough to get rid of that infection. With two kidneys -> no problem. Damn, that was a sad day in the colony.

I replayed the scenario out of curiousity by spawning a spare kidney and transplanted it -> he survived. So, take care of your colonists organs!

AFAIK, a "military grade" sniper rifle is not something you can fire accurately without resting it on something.
I imagine my sniper wielding colonists are going prone for every shot.
