Hello everyone, I'm new here but I would like to make a suggestion. If this suggestion was done before: Dear mod, you can delete this thread while shouting HAVOC!

If not, let me explain, what my idea is.

Due to the circumstance, that Rimworld plays on just one map, everything that happens, will be on that map. The player is quite passive and will fortify himself. But what might be another challenge would be another fraction on the same map.

Shure, this might not fit that well into the existing AI and the mapsheme, but that would be a way to make the map more than just a castle and some countryside around.

This might happend due to an event. Like e.g. some Nomads have descided to stay on the turf near your home for a season or two and bring their animals with them. But also as a more stable condition like other colonists (e.g. from the same ship your colonists are from) descide to make their own colonie (with blackjack and....you know what else), but in viewdistance to yours.
But this could also be more problematic events like a bunch of pirates had their winter home on the terretory nearby an come back a half year after your colony was founded. They don't have to attack you, but might take some of the ressources that were left out in the open and harras your colonist.
With this the map becomes (temporary) a battleground or a playe of friedly coexistance. This might result in the death of a group, the eviction of a group or even the combining of both group to a new and bigger one.

Well this was my idea, thanks for reading it!  :)

Afraid this would probably be hell to code, as the current coding is for specifically colonists to do all the tasks. To have the colonists doing stuff on the map, and then another colony, the interactions with buildings, how they consider what is theirs to use or not, how to interact with the other "colonists" that aren't really colonists. Without it being originally planned I don't think Tynan would be able to do it, it would be you could say a very expensive suggestion.

No it doesn't have to be expensive. Of course: If a complete other fraction should permanently live on the same spot as your colony, than it might be a hell lot of coding.
The cheap way might be using the Visitation-System of Rimworld. When friendly neighboors visit you, they come to a close range of your colony and relax there. Propably (I'm just a n00b in coding) it might be a way to use this system to bring a bunch of nomads into a more peripheric area of your colonial area. They might stay calm unless you come to close to their animals or (of course) attack them. These nomads could stay for the summer or a season and then leave again.

Colomists are not actually the only ones who perform tasks. The exception is seigers. When the seiges come, they do things colonists do, like building and hauling.
Tardigrades are superior to all other life forms in every way.

Ps I secretly am one I am the king of their civilization.

True true, forgot about seigers. Same stuff applies tho, that's a simple thing for them to custom do compared to running a colony.
