Map scrolling options (touch screen)

I play mainly on a tablet due to various reasons.
After testing it for a bit, I have to say the functionality of the game overall interacts very well with the touch screen (everything clickable, responsive etc) with one exception: the map scrolling. No keyboard so awsd is out of the question, edge scrolling (basically clicking on the edge of the screen) is partially ok (sometimes it works, sometimes not, the down part of the screen is very difficult to scroll as there are a lot of menu buttons and edge scrolling on tablet basically means click on the edge).

My suggestion would be to add an option (can be enabled from the menu perhaps), that would add 4 cardinal buttons to the screen that can be pressed to scroll the map. I'm thinking of two options:
a) either one stylish button as a cardinal arrow edge/mid of each screen, that could be "clicked" to move around
b) either a cluster of 4 buttons for cardinal arrows in the right top part of the screen (seems to me like the zone is not used a lot right now), that could be "clicked" to move around

This I think would be a great addition for anyone that wants to play by touchscreen.

I use a surface so i have a keyboard for that sort of thing, but have you tried add a program that can give you a middle click gesture, if you can you can middle click and drag to scroll.
Skullywag modded to death.
I'd never met an iterator I liked....until Zhentar saved me.
Why Unity5, WHY do you forsake me?

Thank you for the reply and the brainstorm skullywag. I did try that as well, but it did not work out that well, it basically started dragging the whole window as a picture across the screen (even though it was full screen), very weird. Not sure if anyone had any different result, I tried the touchme gesture app from the store.

In any case, other outside software could work, i got it remotely working with an onscreen keyboard or a virtual emulating gamepad. Option a requires a lot of fiddling (so you have only the cardinal arrows) and unfortunately only works windowed at native resolution, option b means buying one and taking potentially a small hit in performance.
Not sure if anyone has any other option to check.

Keyboard is nice, but at that point it just becomes a laptop, I have a laptop as well, but not enough mobility for me on a day to day alas :(

In any case nothing is as seamless as it could be if integrated directly in the game, I think in a way it's the only thing missing to have it working on touch screen smooth and seamless.
