Saves labor, doesn't break down for much, and the debuff is kinda trivial, or doesn't exist if you have a nice dining room.

I'm not really sure what the appeal of cooking is anymore if it isn't fine meals during a psychic drone.

The point is seeing your people be happy living the life :)

It gives me satisfaction to see they are getting the best of everything..

True,  but it works great as a plan B.  But really,, since corn was added,  its not as useful.
Why to people worry about following their heart? Its lodged in your chest, you won't accidentally leave it behind.

The food balance of simple meals vs nutrient paste I really haven't seen a value to em much anymore.  Five food for simple meal, vs six for a nutrient, reduce to five with research?  The labour side is a viable arguement, but with reasonable kitchen layout, a cook early game can process that food pretty fast and I guess depending on level of prisoners, even the time to deliver food doesn't seem to be that much.  In my colony, if it gets built, is just a roleplay object and nothing more.

Overall, I havent really seen a use for it anymore.  If you have power, you can run an electric stove, and early game if dont want to spend limited steel, can now make the fuel stove.

I am thinking nutrient paste maybe could have some sort of benefit in addition to the nutition going by the wiki description.  Remove the efficiency portion of the research and make the nutrient paste dispenser full research.  I would say have it settable so it could use "medicine" to provide an alternative drug effect.

I would have it make use of the similar code that the new fueled structures do, but instead you set it to have a drug effect.  So people get the disgusting, but that herbal/medkit/glitterworld (different "fuel" for different effective duration) gives a bonus.  Happy drug, Work speed drug, Walk drug, Aiming drug, reduction in food requirements, caffiene for some reduction in sleep etc.  So suddenly, the vile nutrient paste has a potential, especially for those of you who sometimes play like me and get larger colonies that get bigger prisons, slave trade, etc.

Even something simple like an immune boost to make it a good object for hospitals would be nice.

Edit:  I guess when you are making lavish meals and don't want prisoners/certain colonists to get them is another reason.

Could just increase it's saturation to 100.

That'll make it a tough choice, then.

I use it all the time, at the beginning it helps because my 3/4 colonists are busy and I don't have a dedicated cook. After it's good to not have people eating raw food when there is no meal ( worst mood debuff, gut worms too). On ice sheets I use it till I have a reliable food production, so two or three years.

The thing is, people have a maximum of 100 saturation.
They eat as soon as their saturation drops below 30
Usually even the 85 saturation from the simple meals is overkill already.

100 saturation would only not be wasteful if the pawn was already starving.
I'd much rather see it's ingredient use be lowered.

Nutrient paste meal costs 6 units of any consumable food while any other meal needs at least 10. The difference is too big to ignore. It's also good for feeding prisoners because it saves resources, time of your warden and cook.

for me its a variety thing, i never have food shortages for whatever reason (I pull in thousands of veggies every harvest as i plant swathes of land for the first few days), if i lose its due to something else. I havent built an npd in about 5 alphas.

Why Unity5, WHY do you forsake me?

Nutrient paste also has 0 risk for food poisoning. Small note,  but having lost a colonist to puking mid raid (no joke)  its another pro you can't ignore,  especially with low skill chefs

NPD uses half as much food as plain cooking. Seriously, try a desert or an ice sheet.
NPD doesn't require skill to use.
NPD is not a full time job. It's like having one more colonist.
NPD never causes food poisoning.
