Box-Select Prioritize

Scenario: you have a patch of metal slag - let's say 20 pieces - half the map away from your base, I'd like to box-select them all and 'Prioritize Hauling' on them so that all available haulers drop what they're doing and come get them.

Back story:

Currently I have slag spread all over my map, I've double-clicked (select all similar) and selected Haul on them but they're not getting hauled. I even set my guys to haul as a first priority but I'm guessing there distance from my base is kicking them down the list of things to haul.

The person on smelting duty is having to go and collect each piece before they smelt.

I have a stockpile set up just outside the smelters room set to accept steel slag with high importance (another stockpile right next to the smelter with critical priority) but they're not hauling unless I tell a single colonist to haul a single piece.

The problem you have is the priority of the hauling order itself, haulers haul refuel things first then rearm traps, strip corpses, open containers, cremate, bury corpses, haul corpses and then they haul the general things, usually people still have alot of rock chunks or other slag chunks closer to their base.

And because other items are closer to the base the haulers pick the closest things they can haul, for example if you have a farm or mine ores.

There is no max range that they will haul, it takes just a lot longer to haul the things near the map edge due to other stuff being closer.

other scenario: you REALLY need your defenses to be set up, but you've already put down the blueprints for your storage area, and it gets prioritized. the only way, currently, to solve this, is to go ahead and tell your constructors wall piece by wall piece manually to prioritize working on them. twice per wall.

There is a mod "Haul Priority" availale for that. A good alternative until the vanilla system gets more flexible.
