Hey. This game looks great and I've been looking into it for a while now. I'm really tempted to purchase this, but how 'accessible' is Rimworld? Like, do I have to spend hours learning what to do? I'm a uni student so I dont have a lot of time. I would rather jump in and play.

It's not that I am incapable of learning, I don't really want to spend a long time figuring out what to do. I've messed around with Dwarf Fortress, but obviously its quite daunting. However I loved the idea of the game, so this looks like a great alternative thats possibly more user friendly.

It is much much more accessible.

Something smart Tynan came up with is the the "tutorial" system, which is not a classic tutorial like you know it from other games maybe, but a learning and situation aware system.

The help you get will depend on your actions, so if you fail to move the camera around the helper will tell you how to do that. As I used all control mechanisms in this regard intuitively I never got any message explaining it, but instead the help nearly yelled at me to finally install a nutrient dispenser as I took my sweet time doing that the first game around.

But mind that its all Alpha, so bugs might occur, there is not too much content yet and before the endgame is introduced a lot of other things have to be finished.
On the other hands for an Alpha its already hours of fun :-D

I personally found that the first 2-3 plays you have will end within an hour with your people deserting you for seemingly no reason. After that you kinda cotton on and you get the hang of what you're doing.

It adds many new methods of power generation and uses for it, as well as other things such as incidents.
