How to dial back to prior version (Steam)

Is there a way to do this?  I got a message that popped up about clicking properties and beta but nothing in the beta tab allows me to change anything or choose another option.

I've got a save game that I'd like to finish but is DOA now with the new version (this is honestly the only game that is not backwards compatible...ever.  that's stupid to me.)

There is A14 in the drop down selection in the beta tab.
