1279 FPS issues.. ?? you know right??

Hi,

things are starting to show up over in the steam forums about slow fps and lagging on the new version just pushed out..

do you know about this? has this been reported? I can try to update more details as they come in.. but I just also experienced it.. with 1279..

I had about 4-5 pirate raiders drop in and went towards my 4 gun turrets and 4 colonists on draft.. and all the sudden the game slows like it can't handle the computations...


so I'm letting it be known now.. there are others starting to come forward with reports now too..

I don't know how to help you with this but it's definitely gonna get some flak soon.. ha..

Need a save with the issue present, Tynon can then find out what is causing it fairly easily.

Not easily at all, actually.

Can someone please post a savegame during when the slowdown is occurring?

Well.. we will see if it happens to a lot more people.. It may not be that much of a huge deal.. I guess see how many more people show up with lagging problems..

some say it's only on fast forward "3" speed.. but in anycase, maybe don't sweat it as it doesn't seem to be crashing the game yet.. ha..

just gotta wait to see how many more people experience this and yah hopefully get a save during it..  I'll be on the lookout in my game too..

I always play on largest size map.. and I noticed another guy used largest size map too.. so probably that's the start.. but time will tell..

I noticed a small fps drop on speed 3 when a colonist is sleeping, it stops as soon as the colonist wakes up.
Save file attached if that's useful.

That's because the game actually runs a lot faster when everyone is asleep. Like really, really fast. It's basically designed to go so fast your FPS will chug. The Sims does the exact same thing.

I also noticed a drop in fps at the beginning of a game in a15. Not many pawns and I never had a problem in prior versions.

In case it's helpful; I've noticed FPS drops when hovering over the job command menu for a period of time.  When I play on my laptop (6GB ram) it's really noticeable and takes a while to work its way out.  On my desktop (32GB) it's way more manageable.  Noticed the same with tooltips and alt-tabbing, although not as much as when having the job command menu active for a period of time.

Well, from that video specifically, I can't tell what size of map that is - but I know that I cannot run the "standard" sized RimWorld map without lagging on my laptop. Since many steam users also run aging hardware like I do, it is possible that in at least some of the cases, the lag is due to the increased demand on the system, while running at triple speed, especially if they are running on larger than standard map sizes - while it may not lag on single speed, at higher speeds it may become more noticeable, because that is exactly how it works for me on standard sized maps. I can run them "okay" at single speed, but at triple speed it is noticeable.
