Apparently there is no distinction between stacks on the ground and stacks being hauled.

Pretty sure they are limited to w/e the stack size is. I've never seen them carry more than a stack of anything.

This is the correct answer to the question. Sadly no hauler can carry more than the max stacksize.

Well, they might carry more efficiently stuff with larger stack sizes, like wool, silver, jade, neutroamine, smokeleaf joints, and hay. Sadly most things are capped at 75.

Or allow haulers to carry more than one stack. Unless there is some technical reason why that doesn't work.

I'd definitely love the stack limit to be increased somewhat though. Those steel fields get way too large later on.

If I remember a "bug" report thread, it was mentioned that this will likely not be changed, for technical reasons.  (Something was hard-coded into the game, too difficult to change.  Don't remember what, mind you.)
