Hi all.
Muscle parasites attack colonists after eating raw meat (excluding human flesh). When there is a great hunger in your colony, pawns trying to eat dead animals causing diseases.
I don't know how it works in Rim world but in real life if you want to clear raw meat from parasite larvae, you have to freeze or boil it. If it's the same situation in Rim world I need to check whether the temperature has an effect on the sick colonists. Maybe short hypothermia or overheating can speed up the process of disease treatment.
What do you think?

As far as I know, muscle parasites, like most RimWorld diseases, is simply a roll of the RNG. It has nothing to do with your food preparation or lack there of. You'll just have to wait it out.

The only diseases you can actively avoid are:
1) Generic wound "Infection" (keep medical area clean, use better medicine/doctor)
2) Food Poisoning (use a paste dispenser, have a higher level cook)
3) Malaria (take Malaria-block)

SpLeon

My colonist ill thoroughly after eating the meat of a dead animal. Therefore, it is thought, and it made sense to me. Does anyone else have absolute certainty that diseases are random?

MikeLemmer

Yep, they're random. Diseases will just randomly affect 30-50% of your colony, regardless of what they've done.

Now, if the colonist got Food Poisoning, that's from eating raw meat or badly prepared foods.

O Negative

You can always disable them in the scenario editor. That's what I do. It's a poorly thought out illness, with no real preventative measure (without mods). Would be nice to see diseases with causes/vectors other than food poisoning :P

Can you really avoid malaria?

Yes, they need all 5 - 6 days this Malaria-Block. You can produce them after research and you need neutroamine for it.

TomatoWalrus

Oh okay. I didn't know you can avoid it completely. I thought it just triggers the same way all the other diseases do.

But you can't heal it with malari-block. Malaria triggers randomly, and you can be not touched by it in years, and you have to eat your blockers every week. Well, if you think malaria is THAT big of a deal, you can waste your resources on it (3x Neutroamine per pill every 5 days).
