Hi there I'm new to these forums and only just signed up on them because of a bug I encountered while playing (and recording a video LMAO)

So while playing I got a manhunter pack of 2 Rhinos... And after losing 1 colonist I killed the 2 beasts, and continued on with my game. About a minute or two later I got an error report (I screenshotted it) and then pressed ok and continued to play. I decided it would be best to save and return to menu (this is permadeath remember) and reloaded the game, and Poof! I lost about 2 minutes of my save. With me being optimistic I just restarted and this time saved my colonist from death, easily killing the rhinos and again went along with my life UNTIL It popped up again and the same thing happened (I took again a screenshot, it was a different error) and tried again... I saved and reloaded and BOOM again..

So that's the gist of it really. I will include images and I have a video recorded that I can link in aswell!
Any help would be much appreciated as this issue effects my youtube channel, thanks
Ryan

First, could you go to the savegame folder, and ensure that the save file is not read-only?

QuoteFind it by clicking the 'open save games folder' button in the in-game Options menu.

Nope not from what i can see
Here is a picture of the save folder, which inlcudes all saves (including the problem one) Lutin. I see there is two of them, one being a .new file
That may be the issue, but how do i solve it?
Thanks for the help so far!

In Windows, right-click each of the files, and select "properties" from the drop-down list.
In the new window, make sure that there is no check mark in the box beside "Read-only" and click OK.

In Mac or Linux...
I have no idea, honestly.

If the game still does not save, then please upload a copy of your output_log file, and a copy of the saved game, and another may be able to assist you better than I.

(Saved games can be compressed using built-in operating system compression programs, or by using alternatives such as &-Zip or WinRAR. If the file size is still too large, saved games can be uploaded to a cloud service like Google Drive, Dropbox, or one of the multitude of free file-hosting sites.)

QuoteLog File
Posting a log file means uploading the log RimWorld generated. Here's where to find it:
Windows (Steam): C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RimWorld\RimWorldWin_Data\output_log.txt
Windows (non-Steam): RimWorld####Win\RimWorld####Win_Data\output_log.txt
Mac (Steam): Users/<UserName>/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log
Mac (non-Steam): /Users/[your user name]/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log
Linux (Steam): /home/<UserName>/.config/unity3d/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld/Player.log
Note: You must run RimWorld from the console or the log file will not be created.  If you don't run RimWorld from the console, you may find the log at /tmp/rimworld_log
Linux (non-Steam): /home/[your user name]/.config/unity3d/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld/Player.log

ok, looked in the properties of both the .rws and .rws.new save files that are both my savegame (not sure why for this save there is a .rws.new version) and BOTH are NOT read only files :/

here is a zip of my save (the regular .rws one) as well as the log file
Thanks for your help so far, hopefully we can get this solved as this is impeding my youtube series :(

I'm not sure if it's the same thing or not, but I had something like this happen to me a while back and I posted a thread about it here: https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=25806.msg261650#msg261650

My issue wasn't with a permadeath game; I was just unable to make an Autosave or even manually save the game. I just verified my game cache in Steam, and that worked for me. Someone else in that thread also had a similar issue, but I'm not sure if it was resolved for them. I don't know much more than that, but I hope it helps!

ok, just verified the cache. I will give it a try (i read ur post) and see if it can save. Ill let you guys know if it works!
thanks :)

EDIT- saved the game after i loaded it, nothing poped up as i was saving. ill update again once i get a bit of playtime
EDIT #2 - It seams to have solved the issue. game works fine right now. thanks abunch for the help. Wish i knew what the issue was tho XD

Ah, if you were running the Steam version, it was probably Steam weirdness.

If I had to make a guess, it may have been to do with the Steam Cloud.
Basically, for some reason, Steam may have considered the "new" hardcore save as "invalid" or "corrupted" and downloaded the old version from the cloud, replacing the new one.
I have seen similar things happen with other games I played.

In any case, glad that MisterVertigo's suggestion helped you.

Ahh that could be it. ive fairly recently got it on steam (i had  it off of steam before, funded the kickstarter)
Thanks again for the help! :D
