Hi,

I recently tried to play rimworld with mods (via steam workshop)
I always got stuck in "Initializing..." when mods are installed.

I tried to run Steam in offline mode:
the game was not stuck in "Initializing..." anymore, but "mods" screen showed "Downloading ..." (even if those mods are already "offline" available!)

It seems theres some serious bug in the workshop integration?

I also tried to copy those steam-mods directly to the "Mods" folder (and use offline mode) - same behaviour.

Any way to get the "non steam" version if you bought the game on steam?

There is no way to get the DRM-free version of RimWorld if you bought the game via Steam.

However, non-Steam mods, available here on the forums, are usually completely compatible with the Steam version of RimWorld.
In addition, a combination of Steam Workshop mods and non-Steam mods is also viable.
The would allow you to install most mods without the Steam Workshop, and still allow you to use Workshop-exclusive mods.

In terms of your current installation, if you have a large number of mods, or several large mods, it may take some time for the game to initialize them upon starting.
