Planet generation problem

Before A16 you could choose any tile in the map and it didnt matter at all, only the biome itself mattered. Now with the planet and distances being important, when I generate 30% (i always use 30%) or 50% map Im pretty much forced to choose one of the biomes around the middle because If I dont and I set near the "dark zone", everything will be far.

My idea to fix this is to instead of creating a zone of the planet, generate a complete planet, but smaller.

I said this previously and Tynan answered that the travel time to the poles already was too little, and the 100% planet is already too small. I dont understand the first statement, I mean, so? Whats the problem? About the planet being too small... We already have a lot of unrealistic things, a small planet to me doesnt sound crazy.

There could also be other solutions that I havent thought but the size of the planet sounds like ok to me, no dark zones.

If you're looking to play in a colder biome without having to travel a long distance to get somewhere, why not just lower the overall temperature of the planet? It's fairly easy to create a 30% planet generation with lots of ice biome tiles. The same goes for incredibly hot/dry climate preferences. You can, to an extent, fine tune these things so that any biome is within your grasp, without having to settle near the "edge" of the world.

Ice Biome Example:

Desert Biome Example:

All that being said, I have to agree with Tynan about the size of the planet already being incredibly tiny. Travel times by foot are ridiculously short, all things considered. Just try playing with the settings already in the game :)

Incredibly tiny is the perfect size for these planets. It's taking me about a season to migrate from my polar base to the 45-degree band, which is about as much food as I can prepare in advance without constantly settling long enough to exterminate the local wildlife for meat. Larger planets would be practical if there was more biome diversity or you had a reason to use the same planet for multiple games, but as-is I prefer this size.
