So, I use the "Assign" -> "Current Outfit" menu to say when to just wear Clothing ("Worker"), and when to wear Armor ("Soldier").

This is great, and Colonists do it automatically, but only when Clothing or Armor isn't Deadman's.

For Clothing, this is fine, whatever. I have plenty of non-Deadman clothing.

But for Armor, I've only got Deadman's right now, and when I tell them to wear Armor, I need them to automatically equip it anyway, even though it's Deadman's.

Is this possible? How do I set this? Can I set this in the "Current Outfit" menu? Do I need a mod?

I don't even know why there is a deadmen tag in the game If they already lose a lot of durability when hit!
I think the blood can be washed away!

It's more the physiological part of it. If you shot and killed someone wouldn't you feel a little strange wearing their shirt, granted I would find armor a little less "hurtful" to my mind, but the concept still remains.

You don't have to do anything, that's how the game works out of the box. In fact, in the base game there's no way to prevent them from wearing deadman's apparel.

If you bother to make/get some real clothing for your pawns they will dress in that instead of deadman outfits. It's intential that you can't turn of deadmans appearal from outfits, they prefer to wear it if the alternative is to wear nothing. Works brilliantly if you ask me.

Okay, I tested again, you are correct, the issue is not just Deadman's, they will equip this sometimes, but something is still wrong, and I am not sure what.

Could somebody please help me to understand whatever I am missing?

Here's a picture walkthrough:

Colonist's are set to "Worker", which is just not wearing armor. So far so good.

I make a new Outfit "ArmorOnly" which is just Armor Vests and Helmets. Set everybody to this new Outfit.

I have a moderate stockpile of such armor. Most of it is Deadman's and garbage quality and durability, but I have it, and it's better than nothing, right?

My colonist's properly acknowledge the change in Outfit by running over to the stockpile and stripping all of their clothes off, but only a few random colonists actually equip some armor. Most of them prefer to remain naked.

What am I doing wrong? Why won't they all equip armor and helmet?

Why are your "soldier" outfits naked except for armor? You probably still want your colonists wearing clothing. Your soldier config should be the same as your non-soldier config, just with armor also enabled.

That shouldn't cause the problem where they don't put the armor on, but it is weird.
