Recently after ending my first Colony, I started to realize how easy it would be for Rimworld to be on the mobile market.
Ludeon could make potentially a lot of money by porting Rimworld to the mobile market. The Mobile Market on the moment is saturated with trash like Clash Of Clans and it could use something like Rimworld. I mean, mobile devices have the processing power to handle large colonies or raids, which my computer doesn't, so its Plausible.
What do you guys think?

RW is kind of the opposite of the casual games that I usually associate with mobile gaming. The mobiles are usually custom built to keep you tappin' and buying upgrades.

ETA: Wow, this can be read way more negative than I meant it to be! I'd love to see smarter games on mobile too.

I like how they saw the naked guy with no food and said, "what he needs is an SMG."

While I do agree with that in some parts, I do think that Rimworld is the change that can kick Mobile to the curve, and aspire in a new wave of creativity. Rimworld is exactly what Mobile needs right now, a real base-building game that doesn't make building take an actual month (Like a certain CLANS game) and the ability to play it on the go. For example, your bored at work and its break hour, you decide to quickly make some changes to your colony on mobile Rimworld, its fun, its mobile, and it has UNLIMITED REPLAYABILTY, making it a perfect game for Mobile.

I just posted this 3 hours before this thread : https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=30854.0

Asking if a tablet mode could be implemented.  I've been playing it on 2 of my tablets just for fun.  My Surface tablet runs Windows so that's easy, and I modded my HP Touchpad tablet to run Linux, so I have Rimworld on that as well.  It works quite well with a touch interface, even on my older HP tablet.  The only downside is that there's no virtual keyboard to type in names for characters/stockpiles/etc, but the bonus is that RW generates random names as defaults, so I can always accept the default names.

As for running on Android, I'm sure it could be done because Unity runs on Android.  But the device hardware itself would be the limiting factor, like screen size, processor, and RAM.  My HP tablet only has 1GB of RAM, so I run a very stripped down OS (uses 90 MB when loaded) with compressed RAM to make it work.  It has a dual-core processor that's clocked at 1.8 Ghz.  The 10" screen on it is probably the smallest screen I'd want to play it on because of all the menus, which is why in my post I linked, I asked if larger menu could be an option, especially the pause/play/ff game speed buttons.  I would definitely not want to run this on a smartphone, just because of the small screen.
