Patchwork leather jacket

On one hand, people like me strongly dislike having lots of different leathers that barely differ in functionality, just in name and color. On the other hand, there are people who are excited by things that differ only in name and color, and will download mods to have more of them. Here's how to have a cookie and eat it:

Patchwork leather jacket. It would be crafted from more than 1 type of wool or leather, with averaged stats, weighted by leather amount. For each type of apparel, you would have to add 1 more sprite. No more individual colors and cute names like 'raccoon leather pants', maybe even a slight penalty to mood for ugly apparel (-2). But people living in barren biomes would have a way to craft something from scraps, and the way they dress would tell that story.

I agree with this.  I made a personal stitched-leather mod as practice with modding in general.
Mental break: playing RimWorld
Hans Lemurson is hiding in his room playing computer games.
Final straw was: Overdue projects.

As for interface, there would be an extra checkbox in the bill interface:
"allow patchwork" (disabled by default)

Patchwork woolen apparel would be a thing too, but maybe it should be either all wool or all leather...

Hijacking my own thread:

New construction blueprints:
"Any stone" wall
"Any stone" floor

These could result in interesting, randomized wall and floor patterns in addition to more convenient interface.

I like the suggestion. I can imagine the more cobbled together look of the fledgeling colony or lost tribe or crash survivors .. whatever you may call them ..

I think the game will benefit from a bigger duct-tape and spit feeling.

Rather than ugly cloths, perhaps it could have a 10% hit to durability, since its less secure / sturdy from the intermixed materials.

Why to people worry about following their heart? Its lodged in your chest, you won't accidentally leave it behind.

Its bad because reasons, and if you don't know the reasons, you are horrible. You cannot ask what the reasons are or else you doubt it. But the reasons are irrefutable. Logic.

patchwork tends to be quite strong in terms of textiles.

if anything, maybe 10-20% more resources for overlap and seams.

Textiles and leather are VERY different

A jacket made of 1 giant piece of leather is VERY strong

if its made of dozens of pieces, it will fall apart easier.

So both .. less durability, more ressources and looks crappy.

Whatever it takes to get rid of those small stacks of yorkie, rat, squirrel and random encounter animal leather ..

Finally all the pysically and mentally challenged Colonists can finally contribute.
