Meteors / Asteroids

Much like the mechanoid ships which crashland, I reckon it'll be cool for meteors to crash onto our small map. They would be full of minerals for your colonists to mine, however inside of them there are enemies or it could be a flaming asteroid which will set you base alight.

The enemies could be like the infestation bugs and insects or it could be something completely new.

Any thoughts or ideas to add onto this idea?

Well a large enough asteroid would cause massive destruction, perhaps have a wave of fire start on one side of the map from a distant meteor strike? It could also spawn a crater on the map that you could explore and mine

That would kill pretty much everything on the planet.
