Where is the Rimworld going?

Im kinda curious. Is there any talk about RimWorld eventually being made multiplayer or Co-Op through updates kinda like how Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 or Prison Architect did, because I do see a lot of beneficial potential coming from something like this

I never understood why people keep asking for long single player games to become multiplayer... Who is gonna be 4 hours straight playing a single game? Very few people... Reminds me of the even more nonsensical Anno multiplayer...

Well, the multiplayer mod (git) possibly gets updated for 1.1 and Royalty on 2020-04-17, next friday.
