Love the Alpha 7! :)

The material selection when building walls, etc. is somewhat clunky, but it helps keep the item menu clean, for sure (maybe toggle/swap among the various available types, so you don't have to select one each time?).

I've finally researched smelting and mortars, and have built both, and now am unable to issue any commands / attack with them. I would assume the smelter should give me a right-click menu like the stone bench, right? It certainly has power.

As for the mortars, I think I just remembered needing to switch a settler to military mode.. I'll try that... ;)

Thanks again for this awesome game!  It's not even finished, and it's already tons of fun to play.

Yep, you need to recruit a colonist in order to have them operate a mortar. Just remember to give them a break once in a while.

As for the smelter, you have to make sure 1) there's an active bill 2) there's a slag chunk within the bill's radius 3) there's a colonist with the right labor enabled (crafting? hauling? i dunno). Bills aren't created by right clicking: you just left click on the worktable to bring up the table's info box, then click on the bills tab on that to make new bills.

Yup. That was it exactly, on both counts.

The smelter's bills tab was blending in with the terrain/buildings and I wasn't seeing the button. Everything is working great. Now I can fire back (and rebuild my geothermal power generator).
