A case for 64 bit support

I know this has been brought up and rejected a number of times in favor of other higher priority items but I feel its important to bring it up with some data as to why I believe 64Bit support is an important feature for this game:

Mods are definitely a large factor in the increased RAM usage of Rimworld, but even a vanilla game can start approaching the 'danger zone' (3GB or more of RAM consumption) purely by adjusting the settings provided by the vanilla game.

- With all default settings: The game consumes around 500MB at the load screen, 800MB by the time you reach the world map (30%), and 1150MB by the time you get in game (250x250)
- If you bump that up to 100% world gen, and 400x400 on a rainforest map you are suddenly up to around 2200MB (I've seen as high as 2600MB) just loading into the game - not even having played or done anything. RAM consumption will naturally go up as you play and more characters, items etc start having to be tracked. Having played the game for a few hours, having experienced some large raids I've seen the RAM usage start approaching 2800MB.

(All of these measurements were taken using Task Manager and restarting the game after each setting change)

At 2800MB of ram usage you're already at the point where if you decide to send your colonists out in a caravan or to generate another map - you are going to risk out of memory errors.

Now either I am running into some sort of bug which is causing this high RAM usage or the combination of settings (which I strongly suspect a lot of players use) is enough to send the game into potentially unstable territory.

Beyond that, if you factor in mods (which are a core part of the Rimworld experience) - something like Combat Evolved seems to add 200-300MB of ram consumption on its own.

i am pretty sure the devs know about the issues of running rimworld 32 bit, the problem is that it takes a lot of time and money to change the game and from what i have heard it is easier if it is done at the very end. why, i dont know, as i am not a programmer.

but if you have a second computer that you can use, put linux on it and download rimworld onto it and play it that way, but you can even do it on your main computer if you dont mind linux. apparently, linux version runs 64bit.
