Just like the title says, I have noticed some animals have a chronological age, usually one year older than the biological age.

Is this a bug, or is it intentional?

Silvador

Haha! I've noticed this also. Since it's a new feature just added, I'm guessing it's probably not intentional. But since it's not a game breaking thing, I just laugh at it and move on.

Of course, who knows. Maybe some of those animals have been kept in cryosleep for a while.

I like how this game can result in quotes that would be quite unnerving when said in public, out of context. - Myself

The dubious quotes list is now public. See it here

Maybe they hibernate?
That's a huge evolutionary leap where hibernation allows them to avoid aging for a winter.

It's a bug, thank you for reporting :)

I'll fix it.

Inter-species breeding with a cryptopod, perhaps? XD
