I wanted to get other peoples opinions on McDonalds.. posting here because quite frankly its the only forum/social media I use.

They have started saying "Welcome Back" when you drive up. I think it would just remind people how often they eat there. I barely ever eat there, so I just find it creepy and off putting. I can't think of any good marketing reason they would say that. Some people might find it personable, but it wouldn't help their sales at all, would it? Surely they are driving more people away than they are convincing to come back. Their marketing department seems to be terrible, it's like they use any idea that comes into their heads without thinking how it will be perceived.

Combined with burgers that taste like salted dog-food and fries that never rot, I'm never going back again.
Can anyone think of how saying "Welcome Back" might help their sales?
I made a meme using their new mascot just for the occasion.

Freak the hell out in the restaurant.... shouting "ive never been here!!"
Skullywag modded to death.
I'd never met an iterator I liked....until Zhentar saved me.
Why Unity5, WHY do you forsake me?

I'm rather.. conserved, but I'll try to. It wouldn't change anything though, they would still say it every time because it's company policy. So I would have to freak out everytime. I'm sure people already do it.

The movie "Super Size Me" is the best McDonalds advertisment you'll ever need.

The egg mcMuffin is a guilty pleasure of mine, and a tradition in my family to eat when we have an early flight when we go on vacation.

It strikes me that a simple "Hi there! What can I get for you?" would suffice as a greeting. :)

My Mick D's doesn't say that.

You're lucky. I'd ask where, but your profile says you're from Sanghelli, so you can keep your privacy.

I found a few facts on random sites...
McDonald's serves 1% of the world's population every day
1969 - sold its five billionth hamburger
1994 - just short of 100 billion
April 2010 - 247 Billion Sold
Pretty sure its well over 300 Billion now, they are opening stores in other countries a lot, a new store every day in China.
Their signs used to have a number back in the day, but now signs just say "Billions and billions sold"
so.. 300B/7B humans = ~42.8 burgers per person
They just assume most everyone has eaten there at least once?

I also read that in some cases when they ask "Would you like to try a ____ today?" It's usually a prerecorded message, and not an actual human who is taking the order.

While it appears over-the-top, I guess it all about image...friendly type.

I have a few local restaurants that my wife and I go to every couple of weeks, they say the same type of stuff...but we also frequent there often enough so it makes sense.

So maybe that's their(mickydee's) incentive, bring home that familiar feel. Coming from a random 16 yr old is somewhat silly I agree.

I am living above a McDonald's, for over 15 years now. It's literally a 20 seconds walk from my front door, yet I've been inside only once, when I lost my keys but had to take a leak so bad...  ::)

Some guy have McDonald above his house and.... he was in this McDonald only once. Nothing suspicious.

What can I say? I'm a good cook. B***hes love good cooks, I'll tell you that!

Also, I'm poor.  ::)

I don't believe that you're so good cook and you're so poor that you was in MC under your house only once. I'm poor too but jesus, i was in MC more than once ;D

Nah, honestly, I rather make something myself, even if it's a burger, or lasagne I made just yesterday,
than to go there and buy something for myself only, and for twice the price.

I remember eating there when I was a kid, wasn't bad but neither THAT good, plus I was hungry half an hour later -I don't know what they make those things out of, and at that point I was too afraid to ask...

I just don't feel the urge to go in there, like, ever again.  :-\

Besides, there's a shabby burgerer 15 minutes from here, offering juicy burgers so big I can hardly take a bite. I admit I do eat there every once in a while. ::)

Adamiks

About burgers.... I must say something, something that is horrible. I've never eaten a burger from any restauration! I know! From MC i like nuggets and fries.
