When a enemy kidnaps your colonist, make it so if you have coms they'll demand things from you.

Tribespeople would demand resources, Pirates valuable metals, and Outlanders would probably demand that you 'trade' them a certain value of goods, including silver.

Edit:Heck, it wouldn't even be hard, now that I think of it. Just a trade window with your kidnapped characters and what they're willing to take.

Haha, but I have suggested it. So I support this idea.

Prisoner exchange

If you have a prisoner of a hostile faction, and your colonist has been kidnapped by that faction in the past, you have the opportunity to offer prisoner exchange. This wouldn't be available 100% of the time, because maybe the colonist is already sold into slavery, or has been cut into pieces for organs for rich people. But it would be a way to get a kidnapped prisoner back.

Only if it works in reverse. If raiders can kidnap my colonists and demand stuff from me, I should be able to hold their injured hostage and demand things from them, possibly even hostage exchange...


And then ambush the raiders when they come to exchange with a barrage of 30 incendiary mortars!

I imagine two things with holding people hostage:

1.It could, potentially, be more profitable than slave-selling

2.It would give less unhappiness to your colonists--You're giving them back, not selling them into slavery!

I would really like to not just "free" captured raider, especially since now you can't be non-hostile with their faction.
That and Slave trader come to rarely...
"Sam Starfall joined your colony"
"Sam Starfall left your colony with all your valuable"

Ransom could be a way to feature the pirate chiefs that occasionally lead raids even further into the game. It would add another dimension to combat, of targeting high-priority pawns with less than lethal force.

Don't know if it's kidnapping your thread as well but I would like threatening demands from pirates (who thought that phrase would ever be said?), so they go "yarr, give us 2000 pieces of silver or we'll blast your colony off this planet!" so can pay off pirates to stop them raiding/sieging.
