A research that halves the chance of random diseases! Because frankly, my guys get plague, like, monthly....

Researching a vaccine seems to me to be a little beyond the capability of one guy working on a table at a remote outpost.  Better than allowing it to be a researched item, I think, would be if you would be able to buy individual vaccinations from a trader.  Maybe your local doctor would be the first guy you'd want to inoculate against the various local diseases, to at least try to keep him on his feet if there's an outbreak.

I feel the game could have some sort of counter-engineering or tech stealing/mimicking mechanic. So, while it should be impossible or a daunting task to a single doctor to produce a vaccine (i'm assuming it is, don't really know) then at least you could duplicate it in some sort of replicator station or some kind of lab.

+1 to vaccines btw

Alternatively, maybe you need a real cost to teh vaccine creation?

By that I mean, when an infection takes to a subject...you have to amputate the offended bodypart, which then creates an 'ingredient' which is used at a medical table to then create a culture.  And then you can create vaccines for that specific infection type.  Of course this means you need more infection varieties than simply 'infection' and 'plague'.

As an alternative to using body parts, you can also use entire corpses that have died to infection/sickness. And as a further 'cost' there is a hefty moodlet penalty that comes from working with human remains/parts.

That one guy at a table can make SPACESHIPS. Don't think a vaccine compares to LITERAL ROCKET SCIENCE.

Of course not... That's why we have sent people to the moon, but don't have a commercial vaccine against, among many others, I'll go for an intake example, malaria.... Vaccines and malaria have been around a lot long than rockets,  and yet... Still malaria is a big problem

3500 years should do quite a bit for that, though. At the very least we should be able to buy tech... and vaccines being a buy-only tech.

JonoRig

As a buyable tech, I think it could be an interesting idea, depending on how it's implemented, maybe make them very expensive, rare, and degrades quickly if not stored correctly, so you dont just give it to everyone instantly, and maybe rather then reducing the change, or additionally to reducing it, you start at 50%+ immunity, depending on age and health factors already in the game

I'm not against being incited to choose between a "medicinal tech-tree branch" or technical one, and so on.

Mostly because it goes with my VARIOUS ENDING suggestion.
"Sam Starfall joined your colony"
"Sam Starfall left your colony with all your valuable"
-------
Write an Event
[Story] Write an ending ! (endless included)
[Story] Imagine a Storyteller !

There are barely diseases in the game, what do you want to vaccine against ? I completed a whole Rainforest game without a single case of malaria I've heard so much about.

Really? Well, what challenge level were YOU on? Because my guys get plague and shit all the time.
