Tribal Improvements (Cheap?)

Ignore Turrets
Although they are tribal - apart of me thinks that after the first time 40 of them blew up to 1 turret - they would learn not to do it.

If the tribal instead just ignored them (treating them like natural terrain) and instead attacked priority wise - Colonists - Doors - Walls - they would likely be able to break in before all the turrets took them down. I think story wise, its cooler for your colonists to have to duke it out instead of a few exploding turrets.

Tribal Siege - New event
The tribals spawn, and chill outside of your base.
  • They don't build mortars (tribals duh) - so they would be easy fodder for your mortars to shoot at. Using Mortars though would be costly in colonist time and ammo.

  • Breaking the siege (without expensive mortars) should prove to be a interesting challenge cause out of base fighting tribal is scary (being so outnumbered).
  • It would however make adventuring out of your base noticeably more dangerous. Like very dangerous couch surfers - they build there encampments wherever they can fit them.
- Bonus points (not "cheap") instead of having sky dropped food supplies - have a tribal deliver more food from edge of map. Makes more sense logically. This feature really is prosthetic and not necessary.

I think it's a good idea. Outlanders should do this too if they are not going to use mortars. With manned delivery. Pirates? Nah...

Tribal besiegers could simply build onagers and fling boulders or pots of oil into one's colony.
Combine that with timed massive tribal zerg rushes, and they could destroy many more colonies.

I am trying to keep it "cheap" and I doubt doing art models count / animations count as such.
