As the great RimWorld community has grown so have the amount of Mods for it. This unfortunately comes with a downside... it is getting extremely hard to locate and keep mods up to date.

So I spent some time today getting http://mods.planetrimworld.com/ up and running. This is based off of the framework that Kerbal Stuff created and open sourced.

There are some issues still with the template and colors, however the site is fully usable. Over the next few days you will see these issues get cleaned up as well some RimWorld specific changes added.

There is an API, however it has not been flushed out yet (if anyone is working on creating an mod manager and would like specific features in, please let me know), so expect the majority of the layout to cease to work in the near future.

Have any requests? Let me know!

[edit]
Until some brave soul err modder uploads the 1st mod I have disabled the random button as all it does is error out (due to not being able to get a random id for a 0 length array)

Looks really great! Will definitely be uploading my mods to this site, I've never really enjoyed using the forums.
I have a couple of questions:
Does this have a rating system for users to rate mods?
Is it at all possible to link the download of a mod to a certain release on github.com?

Also, while checking out the site on my mobile, I noticed that the background doesn't extend horizontally to fill the whole screen when scrolling to the side. Just a very minor thing but yah :) anyways, amazing work! I am thoroughly impressed, it actually looks really really nice :D

I see, that it's just copied Kerbalstuff.com also when, also when you search for a random, you see error and some KSP drawing...

The error is due to having no mods uploaded. I am hoping we can get a few modders to upload their mods and this will no longer be an issue. As stated in both the original post as well as on the front page, I did copy this from KerbalStuff as they had they best open source mod site that I found and I figured that there is no need to recreate the wheel so to speak.

As long as there's no copywrite issues and credit is given when due, who cares where it's copied from?

Nice work, should hopefully make life easier on the nodding community,

I agree, So long as credit is given, as it is open-source there's not really a problem, I mean... look at how many SMF forums there are.

This will no doubt be preferable to most modders as it means an environment that can be modified on request to suit the overall modding community, without directly impacting the rest of the Ludeon community.

But most of all, hopefully this should help the Nodding community nicely. ;)

In case any other modders have been looking in here, I have also proposed some extensions to the mod About.xml, a meta blueprint if you will.

What I am hoping to do is be able to identify conflicts, load before, load after etc for mod managers. Make it that much cleaner and easier for end users :)

Tried doing a test upload and it doesn't seem to work. Just shows a red bar bellow the create a mod button. Also, some issues I noticed:
The text on the search bar is almost illegible and popup for the guidelines makes a reference to craft files. Also also does the site support addons for mods? CR and many other mods on this site offer optional downloads that add additional content and/or compatibility patches and it would be nice if we could have those on the main mod page without bundling everything into one archive.

Looking forward to using this site once it's functional.

Hello,

QuoteTried doing a test upload and it doesn't seem to work. Just shows a red bar bellow the create a mod button.
I have tried replicating the issue and have been unable to. I changed the logging to do a step by step verbose logging in the logs in an effort to troubleshoot the issue. When you get a chance can you please try again?

I am working on a UI redesign today and this should get fixed.

It currently does not, however I feel that the addons section should be placed in the About.xml, I have proposed the addition for this at https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=12158.0

This will allow mod managers to be able to handle it in a better manner without being locked down to having to use mods.planetrimworld.com (I am all for competition and feel that multiple options only makes everything better). I have included recommended, incompatibility, incompatibility patches in there.

There is also the ability to make mod packs built in which I plan on extending to add mod order as well.

QuoteLooking forward to using this site once it's functional.
Glad to hear it! Once again I apologize for the issues you have experienced.

I'm not talking about load orders but rather about including multiple downloads on a single mod page. My mod for example has an optional addon with various fortifications and the download link is right below the main download. With your system I would need to either a) package the addon together with the main mod or b) upload it as a separate mod, link to it from the main page and also link the main mod from the addon page. Other mods have similar things, e.g. Superior Crafting has additional downloads for integration of additional mods. Not to mention compatibility patches.

I'd like it if there was some sort of system in place to handle these cases more gracefully. On Nexusmods for example you have the ability to include optional downloads along the main one, so you have everything in one place instead of all over the site.

Ok for the upload issue I located it... Somehow one of the caches had an old template in it so field variables did not match. Can you please refresh the page then try again and it should be good to go.

As for additional packages, I understand what you mean and I agree that will be some nice additional functionality. I have added it to the trello for the site https://trello.com/b/Ru83uZkI/planet-rimworld-mods (accessible by clicking on version # at the bottom of page)

Nope, after emptying my cache and refreshing the page it still doesn't work.

Edit: Apparently the mods show up in the mod counter but not the actual page.

No that is a 'feature' from the old kerbalstuff code base. Once it has been created you have to go edit the mod then hit publish
