Raiders had no chance. But two bad seasons and it's game over.

So this was day 153 on randy random. Arresting everyone I could, selling anyone who couldn't work or socialise into slavery, buying anyone who wasn't crippled in some functional capacity, cashing in big time on raider firepower and buying every scrap of metal I could find. Got hit with two raiding parties 25+ in size at the same time and they stood no chance. Got absolutely shredded with blasting charges before breaching my base and facing a small army equipped with M16's in a fortified position. Finally got punked with two blights right at the end of consecutive crop cycles. That's the price of having 50+ colonists. No farming ship carries anywhere near the kind of food those guys need for a season. I could play it out and watch them all die.. or I could just start again :P

What, were are you hypotronics, dude?
If your just going with normal fields, then there's not wonder your guys are starving. You need to have hypotronics.

Do hydroponics get effected by blight?

They do indeed, but it takes only about a day and a half for hydroponics plants to mature. If you have one table per 1.5 colonists you should be able to sustain food. Any more than that and you end up with excess (12 tables and 12 colonists gives me about 100 spare food per harvest)

Yes, but they produce so much food so fast, that in most cases it's just an inconvenience. Just build as many tables as colonists you have and you will have plenty of food stockpiled pretty fast.

When I had mined the whole map, the only 2 things there were left to do were harvest food and blast raiders and clean up after them, and food went up immensely high (I eventually had almost 10,000 and that's too much to even sell to every passing ship). I didn't know the 1 table per 1.5 colonist "rule", and I had around 40 tables for only 10 colonists, so I always had excess. Farming doesn't take all too long and even in the case of 3 blights in a row at harvesting "season" you should still have enough crops.

Just play along, it's fun to see the "realistic" aspect of the game disappear and just see the ridiculousness of repetition sometimes ^^.
