[Mod request] Markets

I'm new to the forum, so my apologies if this is out there somewhere.

Has anyone considered the idea of Markets for use in trading with visitors or travelers? I imagine that the stock would be limited (until/unless there are carts to be used, and/or wandering traders as a visitor type), but might have items that would be rather handy or possibly rare.
