Colonists wanting to leave or stay goals

I believe it would add personality and individuality to the pawns if they had either the desire to build this colony into something flourishing or if they simply want to leave as soon as they can. I was thinking of a housemate and why they would simply be content staying on a Rimworld when their spouse/children are elsewhere in the galaxy. I think it would add some depth to the characters. Thoughts, gentlemen/women?

most of the colonists we get will come from tribals/settlements already on the world and were probably born on it. unless we start adding other survivor colonies that interact with ours I don't see how this can be added.
