Convert to Cannabal

Cannabalism is rather rare and sometimes people are an easy food. Maybe it is something that would be a negative buff at first but slowly become a norm for that pawn and therefore no debuff.

I think this would be too easy.

It needs to be serious enough that it would cause breaks. Maybe it takes five days of eating in a row. Perhaps the same as treatment. If you don't eat it 5 days in a row then the pawn starts to lose the desire to eat it.

Hum...
I don't mind the idea, but it have to be very hard/long yet manageable by the player.

Preferably something very stressful for colonist that make him near useless.
e.g : Breakdown + Starvation, with the only food available being human.
"Sam Starfall joined your colony"
"Sam Starfall left your colony with all your valuable"

Maybe it could be a hidden stat on each pawn? The trait does say they tried human flesh once and then found they enjoyed it.

Of course it might be nice to have general likes and dislikes for many things which could also start out hidden until discovered which also affects what positive or negative thoughts they receive.
You might get a colonist who prefers the rare treat of raw alphabeaver meat after a long solar flare and an empty stomach and now the meat stockpile has to be guarded lest he devour every last shred of delicious beaver.

Cooked cannibalism gives a -12 debuff.

What if it took 1 year of cannibalism to make them actually like human meat? Like after every month, the debuff gets +1 weaker up until it makes no difference anymore.
And all it takes for it to get weaker is to have that debuff at least once a day for a consecutive month.

Decreasing the debuff to a -11 after 1 month of daily eating human meat. Doesn't sound too far away..?

I think that cannibalism should also have a penalty for NOT eating human meat. So sure, you can convert to a tribe of cannibals, but you better keep cutting up those raiders, because if you don't, your colonists might get the urge to start eating each other.

Perhaps there is a chance of contracting Kuru(wiki). There could be a percentage chance of contracting it and if they do it allows them to eat human flesh without a debuff but they also start to go crazy. The effects could be similar to "shot in the brain" or randomly passing out. The disease could progress slowly and maybe even be slowed with glitterworld meds or it might not get worse if they stop consuming human flesh.

Bad idea, cannibalism is debuffed enough in the game.

The cannibal TRAIT is not debuffed at all. It is extremely powerful in that it allows you to completely bypass the need for farming and hunting. You can almost always find enough food to eat from raiders. The only real drawback to the cannibal trait is that there isn't an elegant way to prevent your non-cannibals from eating food made from humans. That's why making the trait learnable is quite powerful. I don't think they should get sick and die or go crazy, but I do think that if you are going to allow cannibalism to be learned, it should have a drawback.

My original idea was to be able to have your own colony of cannibals. With all the great ideas and insights, perhaps we could meet in the middle.

Just the ability to recruit more cannibals. Maybe a main trait of a raid or siege faction is cannibal. That way you could slowly recruit cannibals only. The ability to convert a pawn to cannibal would still make colony growth a little easier.  Maybe, their is a chance not every world would have cannibals and there is still be a chance that space pirates attack that have the trait.

+1 for the tribe-cannibals, -1 for the pirates-cannibals.

-1 for the pirates-cannibals?
