One thing this game really needs in the next version or 2 is a new and improved Job System. Not saying the current one is broken, but it takes time to actually begin to work it's exploits.

It would be much easier to just assign who does what, when, with whom, and at what priority instead of just having a tier tree of what comes before what.

For Example: If I have a guy who is a really good crafter and miner, his current job is to mine and I have a really big mining project going on, but I need some steel to do it. And I have another colonist who is set doing something else. I should just be able to go into the menu and set his job as a Crafter at #1 priority, not having Mining be on a 2 and crafting on a 1 and he still just sit there and mine.

The priorities system works, but it's just not efficient enough at this time.

Are you complaining about having to change the mining to 2 and crafting to 1 manually? That's all I'm getting from me reading this several times, you complaining about having to change the priority yourself. The priority system works fine.

Somewhat. It's one of the minor issues. Very minor, but limits efficiency.

What i'm saying to do, is to say this guy needs to craft for 3 hours at a top priority then mine for the rest of the day until his sleep time arrives.

See, we cannot change the tier priority. Meaning sometimes if a priority is set to 2 on mining, and a 1 on crafting, sometimes the guy will go mine instead. And I dont want that, I want him to mine a little and then go and craft. Not just mine.

Nah he wouldn't. If crafting was 1 and mining 2 he would ALWAYS craft first. The only reason he wouldn't craft is if there was no things to craft, or stuff to craft out of, in which case he would mine until he could craft. He would never choose to mine if he could craft.

If his mining was the only source of crafting material, he would mine until there was enough to do a job, stop and then use it (assuming it's with range). If the range didn't include his spoils, then he would continue mining until someone hauled it into range, at which point he would craft - and because of the delay there would even be some extra so he would get a few projects made

I read your comment like 5 times and I'm not really getting what your gripe is.....

I think you're right about the materials, it seems that is the only way what he is saying is happening could happen, being out of animal skins, cotton, materials.
