patchnotes "Violating guests with surgery now angers their faction (does not happen for beneficial surgery). Added warning for this."

My question is how would they know about this if we isolate the guy first then kill him after? No witness, should result in no penalty.

Ofc if there r 4 prisoners in a room, we grab 1 of them then send him back w/o an arm ^^ then release them to tell their friends then yea, its understandable.

they're telepathically linked, all of them
how else would you explain them striding through the map like ducks in a row
and always staying in a huge lump, doing everything together, they're a hive mind! the outlanders

Oh, they know

now this whole guest surgery got me to thinking.

preforming the surgery should not be an instant hostile from the faction. Instead, the guest has to recover and go home to report what happened. If the guest dies on the table, then the faction, noticing their missing member, send a party to investigate. Depending on your relations with that faction, with zero being a 50/50 chance of them believing it was a life saving surgery that went wrong, and not an organ extraction, decides if the faction turns hostile.... positive relations, increase them believing it was a life saving operation, and not turning hostile.  Your relations are +20 then it is a 70/30 chance they turn hostile.

This could be nuanced even more as factions relationships become a larger part of the game.

My question is, is it negative surgeries like organ harvesting? What if you give a guest who loves bionic parts a free arm? Wouldn't they love you for it?
Yes. Yes, this is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... "This Land.".

Violating surgery means euthanasia, or harvesting of any organ or body part which is not infected or damaged somehow.

What about edge cases like a visitor having a Bionic leg and replacing it with a Peg Leg?
I assume if you went about it by going Remove/Harvest->Install there would be a penalty.
But what about just over-writing it with Install in order to get their delicious bionic-bits?
A prison yard is certainly a slightly more elegant solution to Cabin Fever than mine...

I just chop their legs off... legless prisoners don't suffer cabin fever

What about trying to help someone by trying to give a guest that lost a leg a peg leg but accidentally taking their left lung in the process?

Some say that we are all made equal, but not all surgeons are equal...

Hey tynan saw in the changelog that the guest faction will get mad if its not a "beneficial surgery".

So what about if they have a serious infection in their leg and theyre gonna die if we dont hack it off like in medieval times? did you incorporate that into the coding of deciding if the surgery is beneficial or not?

though id imagine it would require some tricky work since thats also a way to exploit taking limbs without repercussions

Please read my response from 4 posts ago.

And there's no way to exploit it that I know of. To give someone a wound in a limb you'd have to harm them, which angers the faction. And even if you amputate it, removing damaged limbs/organs doesn't yield anything.
