MarvinKosh has built a modified version of the Cold Snap and other weather-related incidents that basically has all the safety parameters removed:

I just had Cold Snap occur when the temp was already -55C, and it took the outdoor temp all the way down below -120C.  BRRRRR  :o

Where's the fun otherwise? :3

Actually though, I use play bob the builder mode. I couldn't get past the first few irl minutes landing in a tundra. Although mainly because I was in an abandoned ruin and it counted as outdoors, so my fires never heated the room. Then a Molotov gave my guys heatstroke. Heatstroke in a tundra aye?

Otherwise the game is almost exactly the same when played in different biomes, I think it's really great to have some wide variety between sessions.  I'm also OK with the game sometimes defeating you as opposed to winning being certain.  With area restriction that Tynan just added this release, you absolutely can make a self-sufficient and even very comfortable colony in a -100C map, but it takes more than queueing 20 muffalo to be hunted and setting up a few thousand tiles of growing area  8)

all depends on what I want to play, and I do like to pick areas that have all 4 seasons, so that Heating and cooling is needed.  Which makes for some interesting changes.

the ice sheet is quick provide heat, get hydroponics up, butcher people, try to survive. Just the same everytime. not for me.

But just because it is not for me, I am pleased it is in the game for the people that want that one extreme challenge.

What's really insane is the people who play with 24/7 fallout/ash event on an icesheet. If someone hasn't done it yet, it will be done. It will.

Permanent fallout would be pretty funny  ;D

That's actually been done already. I was reading about it in the mods section, I think.

Enjoy your -107c/-160f January!

Can someone please explain to me how to find these coordinates on the map? All I see are long/lat... Turned temperature view on and at most I am seeing -80c...

a useful thing to do is set the view mode to Elevation and look for points that are very far north and have a high altitude (brighter color)

OwlPaste

Ohhh did not know about that, thought you guys were somehow working out the coordinates xD

Thanks!

milon

There used to be Debug Coords listed, but not anymore.  Now you need lattitude/longitude to find a specific location (unless the post tells you exactly where to find it).

Kaballah

Huh, I guess I see those because I have dev mode on (doing things like forcing cold snap/volcanic winter etc)
