Hello;

This one is intermittent, but when selecting a colonist or, in my most recent case, a menu item, the game will freeze. I can't find any pattern, except it is always when selecting (clicking). I can usually expect to have the freeze within about 30 min. The music will still play, but there will be no sound effects, including the selection sound effect. Alt+tab also works, but tabbing in and out will not unfreeze the game. There is no terminal output. The game can be killed from the terminal and restart, but the issue will persist and appears to worsen.

Even odder, a workaround to unfreeze the game is to crt+alt+function to a terminal screen. Upon doing that I hear the selection sound and sound effect like the game is unfrozen (music continues to play). When switching back to the screen (F7 for me), I find the game is unfrozen and playing normally. If i continue playing, the game will still intermittently freeze, but the work around seems to work.

There is no "output_log" file that i can find in either the game directory or the .config/ directories, but I did find a player_log file, which is attached. I've also attached the save files.

Thank you

Hmm well the "no sound" bug sound familiar.

But, I guess, since having a freeze every 30 mins is quite a major issue and nobody else reported it, it might be related to your computer.

Are you playing without mods? Also, did you try to delete all the config files related to rimworld and then try to play it again? What are you system specs? Same problem with A10?

Hello;

No mods, I tried a fresh install with the same results (I just purchased in a few days after this version came out, so I have no experience with other versions). I played a few times with different worlds/saves and it happened each time. Which again points to my machine. I'll admit it is an older computer:
Core 2 Duo 6400
Nvidia 570
6GB RAM
uname = Linux XXXXX 3.16.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.16.7-ckt11-1 (2015-05-24) x86_64 GNU/Linux
Its LMDE2 tracking debian stable.

The computer age is probably the problem. I'd also note that the freeze up is random, I just played over an hour, no problems. If it happens though, it's usually within the first 30 min. I was not very clear about that in my first post. My apologies.

I'll keep poking around. With regards to it freezing on a selection, it just came to mind that I do have a modified 10-evdev.conf for my mouse (its a trackball - I emulate a wheel scroll by holding down a small button and move the ball to scroll), but I've had that conf modification for years (probably 5-ish) with no issues. It's a known conf file change and is well documented in places like the Arch wiki, but since the issue involves clicking on something, I'll have to look into it and see if there were any major changes to the way X11 handles those settings with the upgrade to LMDE2. It seems a little far out there, but it is my best guess, and as you pointed out, it could likely be something fairly system specific (not a lot of trackball users, I suspect).

Thank you.

Eeek, I'm afraid this really looks like a system-specific bug, since it's only you that's reported it. Any fix would probably be in the bowels of linux and unity code I can't access so I'm afraid I have to close this one. Sorry I couldn't do more.
