First Aid?

I have lost countless colonists to blood loss in the field. What would have really helped that is first aid and trauma kits. A trauma kit could be carried in the inventory, like food. It would temporarily stop or slow down bleeding and give the colonist time to get to the hospital. However, to balance this, the use of a trauma kit would result in the use of a tourniquet, which could result in the loss of that limb. For injuries to the torso, it would make it more difficult to give aid in the hospital, taking longer or raising the chance of poor treatment, and the use of a trauma kit would increase the likelihood of the injury leaving a scar, so if your colonist was shot in the torso, it would leave an old gunshot more often. Also, with gunshots to the lung, if this was added, the lung shots Could result in open pneumothorax about 30% of the time, which could be treated with a trauma kit. The trauma kit would be researchable, and wouldn't do anything for broken bones, injuries to the kidneys, or other organs.

You've loss them to bloodloss? Isn't bloodloss trivial currently? Like it actually says (Trivial) beside bloodloss when they have it.

Just like diseases and malnutrition, it can get worse. But honestly, it is extremely easy to stop. All you have to do is have the doctor look at them. Even without meds, they stop the bleeding and stabilize them. Of course with poor treatment, you may get infections that lead to death. But hey, better than blood loss :)

When injured, at the bottom of the health tab, it says how fast they are bleeding out by a % of the day. That should give you a timeline on how quick you need to give them medical treatment. Just make sure you have some beds marked as medical, and set colonist priority to 1 for "patient". So long as you don't force them to stay out too long, you will be fine.

The only time when you can get problematic bloodloss is being hit with triple rocket launcher. That's literally the only time I've lost a colonist to blood loss.

Have you tried Sleeping Spot + Glitterworld Medicine ?

Add a non violent tool/weapon. Stimpak finally some use for all those non violent medics.
It could be melee and single use

Actually, first aid is already possible. All you have to do is put a sleeping spot on ground and set it to medical. Then order the wounded colonist to be healed there, and someone else can give him "first aid".  :)

Plus, if you have a lvl 12+ medic with full bionic, he should have 100% chance for good quality treatment even without medicine :)

That's actually what I'm attempting in a mod... Only problem is the single use melee, it would heal 1 single random anything to normal, meaning you could heal frail backs or anything.
