How's everyone's opinion on how technology advances in this game?
Could there be a major technology limitation at the start?
Do you think we need more types of resources? (A.I. chips for mid game)
What should we add to each tier of technology?
Which research/building allows the person to advance to the next tier?

How does this connect to the possible End-Game scenario?
or
How does this improve/degrade the game play?

Why is it that in terms of technology everyone goes big and bold, the settlers are people whome have crashed on a backwater world after all. try and think a bit smaller.

Q: Could there be a major technology limitation at the start?
A: I think so yes. Being that three people get to the escape pods with just the clothes on their backs and what meager resources they can scavenge from the wreckage, I doubt they would have the ability to craft complex circuitry (ie Nutrient Paste Dispenser / Comm Console), or mechanical objects (ie Doors). They would realistic have to start with basic tools, to create better tools, and then the better tools to make superior tools and so on.

Q: Do you think we need more types of resources? (A.I. chips for mid game)
A: I think that if we implement a resource it should be usable at whatever technology level you are at and remain useful. What I mean is that if you implement a resource that is a staple for beginning buildings that it shouldn't become obsolete at a higher technology level; it should remain a staple. For example, adding in Stone as a resource for constructing of basic beginner structures such as walls. Lategame Stone may not get used for constructing basic stuff, but it could be used to make fancy room decorations or wall/floor/ceiling motifs that add a massive boost to beauty for a room.

Q: Which research/building allows the person to advance to the next tier?
A: I'll go with the methodology used in Outpost 2. To do very basic research, you needed a Basic Laboratory. To do better research, you'd need a Standard Lab, and then eventually an Advanced Lab. In Rimworld, I think one should only be able to research basic stuff at a Research Table, and would require specialized structures or equipment in order to research better things.

Wow I thought no one played Outpost 2 anymore. It was a great, but extremely slow-paced game.

Quite slow yes. Particularly if you didn't manage people's morale, health care, and such right off the bat too (as a happy people and well-lived people makes babies faster, have fewer deaths and makes production go faster)
