From the changelog I can tell there is a change in stock piles, what about other aspects of gameplay?

The stockpiles are completely different..the system is completely new. It is no longer a "Resourse bank in the sky" so you have to strategically palce stockpiles in a way that your colonists can get to them t build and eat etc.
So dwarf fortress in space eh?
I love it.
I love it so much.
Please keep it that way.

Will they be cheaper? Because I think that you will need more of them if you can't just place one in the middle of your colony but have to place them strategic and 200 Metal is much, espacially in the early game.

In the original system, there was a point in having price for stock-pile, since it was actually a warp to the "sky-bank".
In new version, you just mark any area on the map and set what's to be stored there. So there will be no price.
Also there will be no more warping resources to buildings - instead, people first bring resource from closest storage to the target point, then start building.
You can also set area priority, so you can will probable be able to keep some banks filled before others.

And sorry to other testers for not keeping any secrets and stealing all the fame
