Don't no what forum I should post it on, so I came to you guys. So, I was watching a video on youtube while messing with some files on my other monitor. Suddenly a popup ad above everything came up. Now, it was not one of the little ones at the bottom of the video, or a video ad that is shown in the time bar. But it covered the whole window.

Never have I seen something like this before. I was hoping someone else knows what this is, and what can be done about it. Side note; it was only on that tab, I had another page with music on it and it didn't have the ad.

It happened again. Scrolled down to read comments and it reappeared. Had to remove some of it to fit it into the attachments...

What'cha got right here is some good 'ol Adware... I'd recommend running an AV/AM program through your files. your computer may be infected. :)

Yet from my understanding adware doesn't run bloody Dr.Pepper ads. Has only shown up on that page, and not since have I seen one...

Run JRT:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/junkware-removal-tool/

Then run AdwCleaner:
https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownload/1-adwcleaner/

Don't remember where I got my copy of it but if you get this:
http://www.howtogeek.com/209654/scammers-are-using-a-fake-version-of-adwcleaner-to-trick-people/
Then its a fake so do some searching for the real version.

Then run Malewarebytes:
https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/

Even if you don't think you have a virus its a good Idea to run em' once in a while.

Also if you don't have a AV already get one. I recomend Avast:
https://www.avast.com/en-ca/index

I recommend you keep DeepScreen DISABLED.
Its just a pain to have running.

Adblock is good.  I really like uBlock Origin - it's lighter on memory and just does a better job in my opinion/experience.

And let us know what turns up with the scans TheGentlemen suggested.  I haven't seen that on YouTube myself, but it would also be weird for something malicious to announce its presence with a giant pop-up.  You could also try a different browser and see if it pops up again while on YouTube and elsewhere.

EDIT - Woo hoo, this was post 999!  ;D

Youtube don't put those types of adds (I'd know cuz I watch YT 25/8(Yes, not 24/7)), I'm 99.99% sure its a virus.

Its probably adware, they hijack your computer, start showing ads and then when ya click they send to some ad company (like addsence), they earn profit and you suffer.

its definitely adware that got into your system when you downloaded a program off a bad site. try to use Malwarebytes to remove it if you haven't already.
