TL;DR.

Sorry, but I'm stepping out of this conversation. You're obviously trolling. Ok, fine. You go ahead and ask your mechanic to fix your thermostat for you. I'm going to continue to ask more computer-savvy individuals to help me when I need modding done.

It takes time and effort to write responses which are longer than 1-liners.

I do not waste my time trolling

The fact that your unable to read roughly 5 paragraphs is both insulting (me, due to the time and effort I spent) and concerning.

So I shall leave it at this:
QuoteYour first step is a start to a thousand mile journey.
Those you call you a failure (for going on this journey) shall never succeed.
Those who call you a madman (for you effort) have never tried.
Those who mock you simply use you as a reflection of themselfs.
As you are a mirror. They will only try to shatter you with their voices. And you will only shatter when you let them.
Those who never took a step never succeed.
Those who took the step often never finish the journey.
Those who finish not always find a pot of gold, but what they find is invaluable.
So next time they question your ability, insult you or simply ignore (you), ask them: Have you tried; Where are you now?

And this:
QuoteTd;Lr:
Frequently used acronym by lazy, ignorant people in Internet Forums, where their urge to type something exceeds their ability to read something or if they generally lack semantic ability to either comprehend or respond to a post due to underdeveloped brain.

Stating that they were to lazy reading someone else's post just confirms the ignorant attitude and also often destroys the discussion in the thread.

just so people are aware "lighting a fire" is not "hitting a wall and it exploding into flames", the pawns have their weapons out when attacking (like theyve been drafted) they just have some matches and use em on your walls. Just like your colonists have a repair tool on them, use your imagination people, its not hard to see whats happening here from a game mechanic point of view.
Skullywag modded to death.
I'd never met an iterator I liked....until Zhentar saved me.
Why Unity5, WHY do you forsake me?

Wait... so my colonists doesn't actually mine solid chunks of stone by obliterating them with their bare hands? How dare you spread lies and slander.
"For you, the day Randy graced your colony with a game-ending raid was the most memorable part of your game. But for Cassandra, it was Tuesday"

There is a lot of unneeded salt in this thread. A little bit more helpfulness would really be appreciated instead of pointing out facts or the like to just prove a point that doesnt matter to anyone but the poster..

Well, in response to the OP, Tynan leaves a lot of stuff up to our imagination, you must not take the raider hitting the wall with a knife litterally ;)
As pointed out by others, wood and steel walls are flammable whereas stone is not, so it is best to research stonecutting early and build important structures out of stone.
If there is fire indoors, try to put it out immediately, if that isnt possible, watch the temperature of that room, 3-4 squares on fire in a medium sized room are enough to quickly raise the temperature into the danger zone, dunno exactly but I think above 150? degrees celsius colonists will catch on fire when entering the room.

If it has come to that and there is constructed roof covering the room, use the roof tool in the zones tab to delete some roof, the temperature will drop instantly to outdoor temperature and it is safe for colonists to move in. If you built in a mountain and cant delete the roof, your only option is to close the doors to that room and wait til everything is burned out :P

Lastly, colonists will only put out fires in a homezone, in case you need to put out a fire not in a homezone, draft some colonists and put them next to the burning tiles, pawns will always put out fire in adjacent cells ;)

I do agree with Shadou's point but certainly not how he communicated it. Once you have a basic grasp of something, say editing XML files it's incredibly easy however anything is easy once you understand what you're doing and I can understand someone who has never edited an XML file simply wouldn't know where to start.

As for steel walls burning the way I see it is that the game has an 'upgrade' system in terms of materials used. Wood - Steel - Unlock stonecutting - Stone - Plasteel. So I can understand why steel is flammable in the game's terms regardless of real life similarities.
Holding hands whilst the walls come tumbling down.
