Recommended Mod pack/mod list for mid lvl players?

After doing a few colonies with a few mods and such I was wondering if there a a certain pack that added a bunch of new things without reinventing the game?

There's 2 modpacks currently. Both in the releases section, which is a click away from 'Mods', what we're in. Hardcore and variety.
