Mechanoids showing mercy

Why is it every time a mechanoid incapacitates a pawn, they don't kill them, they just go to their next target. Do these mechanized robots actually show mercy?.. or is a incapacitated pawn bait for another pawn to rescue them and they get shot up.

In my opinion, mechanoids don't kill, they deal with 'dangers'.
They eliminate the threat and move on to the next one.

That guy writhing on the ground in pain or that lady without legs or that unconsious kill are all obviously not threats. Because they cannot attack, and therefor pose no threat to the mechanoid, they are not worth being noticed by the mechanoid.

I mean, when you fight, you don't kill downed raiders mid-battle, right? You down a raider, then attack the next one. It's just to the mechanoids, every moment is mid-battle.

Well, the pawn has basically no chance of getting back up after being incapacitated, unless there's the other pawns to help them, so killing an incapacitated pawn would just be a waste of time.

But they still attack Un-Armed people?

An unarmed person is still a threat. They can pick up weapons, they can rescue others and send them back to battle, they can beat them with fists if they have to, or call up a pack of hounds.
Let's face it, no matter how well-armed you are, you won't ignore a person who's attacking you just because they're not armed are you? And to mechanoids, everyone is a enemy trying to attack.

On the other hand, a person lying on the ground unconscious cannot do a single thing other then force others to care for them, putting them out of battle, or push them into rash decisions to save their friend.

Clearly a vestigial subroutine remains in place from when the mechanoid predecessors were first built to shepherd corporate assets to new planets...

Everything behaves this way: tribals and pirates do the same thing. Only difference is they will sometimes kidnap you.

Is this discussion really about how you want the mechs to be evil terminator-like machines that kill everything mercilessly? Perhaps they're not supposed to be.

I never thought about this for the mechs, to me it's just how the game works.

Though, it would be cool and pretty intimidating if Mechanoids execute fallen pawns when there's no other threats around.

It might be cool too if they were turned into homicidal maniacs determined to kill colonists rather than targeting a more significant threat.  It could add a new tactical element to the game: carry Stumpy to the fight wearing lots of armor, toss him in front of the Mechanoids, and watch them try to kill him while you focus on taking them out.

Or use your prisoners as human shields...
If you give an annoying colonist a parka before banishing him to the ice sheet you'll only get a -3 penalty instead of -5.

And don't forget that the pirates chasing a refugee are often better recruits than the refugee is.

This would be good but, if you have turrets that are activated that will be the first thing the mechs will target depending on if you're behind the turret

You can still do this. Give a guy a personal sheild, have him run around the mechanoids, or release your prisoners in front of the mechs. They'll target the closest people.
