Gun turret cooling research- has it been moved or removed? Can't find it if it has been moved...

No mention of it being removed in the full patch notes...

PotatoeTater

Yes, It was removed from the tech tree as part of the new research options.

BugPowderDust

Ah OK thanks. That plus removing manual selection of turret targets is a pretty big nerf

PotatoeTater

Yeah the manual targeting was a huge discussion; however, in the end it was removed mainly because of the exploits that came from using it.

Fair enough, I have yet to run up against mechanical but without focusing on individual centipedes, it's going to be hard!

Panzer

Talking about research, it seems nutrient resynthesis was cut too, couldnt find it.

Good news is, cover was in a sense buffed because a massive glitch was fixed, where bullets could go through walls hitting colonists behind cover... So really, cover, walls, and all that are slightly more powerful.
Why to people worry about following their heart? Its lodged in your chest, you won't accidentally leave it behind.

Its bad because reasons, and if you don't know the reasons, you are horrible. You cannot ask what the reasons are or else you doubt it. But the reasons are irrefutable. Logic.

Kinda sad it was removed, it was decent research. It did have bugs since it was not removed between save games so you could have colonies fire more turret shots without the research.

Limdood

the three "slight gain" researches were removed:

nutrient resynthesis (10% less nutrition used per food synth meal)
Pneumatic Picks (20% faster mining)
gun turret cooling (basically 33% more turret shots per burst)

Dr. Z

It's not that bad with nutrient resynthesis. It was only useful when meals would cost ten units, because it actually lowered it to five, but the step from six to five was not really necessary. But it's sad that the other two are gone, and why should the manual targeting be exploitable?

we used to build a killbox and then order a turret to focus fire a thumbo that had reached the entrance with no colonists nearby. Also choosing which centipede to attack was huge as we ignored the minigun and charge rifle ones and focused on the really deadly incendiary ones

Ykara

It's still in the code, just commented out. But I haven't tested if it still works.
