How to interact with relatives/lovers that are 'passing through'?

So while playing, the game informed me that the lover of one of my colonists was passing through with another faction. This was pretty exciting when it happened, because a) I needed a new colonist, and b) I was interested in seeing how this relationship mechanic played out.

... except I can't figure out how to interact with her. She is merrily walking across the map with members of another faction, and despite being listed as the colonist's lover and having +35 relations with him, she utterly ignored him when I sent him over. The only option is the default; draft him and try to arrest her, which starts a fight between them and turns the faction hostile.

Is this it? Is this really what's supposed to be happening? Am I missing something critical here? It's like the game is taking a broken mechanic and rubbing it in my face, I'd rather it wasn't even there.

Why even have them show up in the first place if there is nothing you can do about it. D=

Please tell me there's some obscure thing I'm missing here, or that I've run into a bug, because I just can't believe that's it.

you aren't missing anything, there's nothing else to do other than arrest them

you have very limited external interaction options in rimworld right now, it's probably going to be improved in the future

It sucks, but obviously that's the drawback of early access.

You can recruit them with hospital mod.

Or just arrest them, penalty isn't steep and you can easily befriend them again.

Kidnap your mother, be attacked by your father and kill him accidentaly, then wander in your garden throwing your clothes away.

I'm sure someone wrote a story like that long ago, but it's in the public domain now. It should be ok

Yeah, I'm also looking forward to more interaction options besides "Oh how nice!  Some visitors.  I guess I can ... nothing.  Or start shooting for no reason."

had two brothers land on the planet (first dudes)


later their mother came in a raid against the colony. (tried to capture her with fist punching - she died) brothers devestated.

later their father came as a friendly and joined via (hospitality mod convincing) then he was devestated finding out she was dead

but the weird thing. father was hundres of years old (cryo)

mother was a tribal. (so on this planet)..
but  ...the sons came to the planet....waaat?
