Joy and idle

I've built TVs and pool tables and horseshoe pins, but when my colonist's have no jobs, they just go idle and roam aimlessly instead of doing a joy activity in their spare time. It makes no sense that they wouldn't go do joy activities when they run out of jobs.

You can simply set their free time to joy.

You can set their restrictions to joy, but they won't really fool around the whole day. Just like they won't oversleep if they are set to sleep all day long, or just like they won't work the whole day if they are hungry or joy-deprived.

id like it if when a pawn was idle they just defaulted to doing a thing... something. i know i could fill their work priorities with 4's but thats a pain, an also bad

I set all their time to joy except four hours before bed. Rarely I'll get one who even dips down into unfilled.
