Your opinion on Psychic Animal Pulser ?

Insanity Lance and Shock Lance are straightforward and effective, especially for taking out rocket launcher troopers. I believe raids will also have leaders in A14 - that would further boost them.

Psychic Soothe artifact is just bad: +10 mood for one day if I remember correctly. One day is a drop in the bucket.

But what about Animal Pulser ? For starters, it's situational. It's pointless in biomes with no animals. Second, raiders might let the mad animals in if they break doors. And some biomes with plentiful animals have boomalopes...

So do you have any success stories with it ? Taking out sieges ? Psychic ships ? Would they attack mechanoids on patrol ?
Curiously, farm animals and pets respect forbidden doors in manhunter mode.

its more or less a onetime use awsome button in certian situations like this one time a herd of like 15-20 boomalopes were passing over a siege camp right as i activateed it. in one word KAAAAHBOOOOOOM!

Psychic Sooth can save you on a bad day. When somebody accedentally stacks an old humanburger with the veggies the same day that the entire colony wakes up on the wrong side of the bed after a boomalope blew up all the beer, sometimes you just need a day to sort things out.

Using animal pulsers seems like suicide as it enrages all the animals in the map. A rampaging horde of 50 deers is a hell of alot worse than 10 guys with guns. I would have preferred it being able to just target a small radius similar to a mortar round and enraging all the animals within it.

Also yeah, Psychic soothe blows.
"For you, the day Randy graced your colony with a game-ending raid was the most memorable part of your game. But for Cassandra, it was Tuesday"

Enough time to devmode some beer or the trade ship you need ? Because most bad events last way longer than 1 day...

What he said. I used one once, and lost the colony form it. So now the only ones I use are Lances.

It sounds very powerful! Trying this in my next colony, the current one is in extreme desert. All I need is to forbid the door for my animals and keep colonists in a separate room. Event-based manhunters do attack mechanoids. I wonder if these also do.
I tried it in dev mode and it doesn't last very long, just enough to repel the raid but not enough to make colonists restless. Your animals will be fine.

The first and only time I used one (in the previous version of the game) my colony had a huge number of animals (30+ pigs, 8 dogs, a warg, couple of elephants, 50+ chickens etc). My poor colonists were spread out throughout the base shooting at the pig/elephant/chicken hordes that were charging at them down the corridors. Gawd, I was rolling on the floor laughing my guts out.

A word of warning though, your animals behave like berserk colonists, they have a "key" and dont give a shit if the door is forbidden or not :P And they bite each other when standing still.
The pulser is too tricky to use in my opinion, either have no animals, or lock them in single cells, which is a pain in the ass to do. I always have some animals around for hauling, wool, etc... and thats why I always sell pulsers should I find some.

Ohh jeez... That's what I feared. I've never actually used the pulser yet, but now that I know that it affects pets too, I guess I never will ^^

I tested it on a single husky in dev mode and he DIDN'T open any forbidden doors. Was that a glitch ? Are you sure those deer are yours and not manhunters ? Maybe non-colony animals are treated differently ?

If they really open forbidden doors, an easy modification would be to make it only affect one selected type of animal. As in: "A strange psychic pulse (...). Your animals are fine, but all the squirrels on the map went berserk!"

Okay, it must have been a glitch the first time around. Colony animals have keys and ignore forbidden doors in manhunter mode. Oh, joy. Wall them in, that's the only way. Or forsake animals.

Just remembered that was what happened the second time I used a pusler. I was breeding an attack army of Rhinos. Had about 30 of them...
